UN Archives in New York are available for consultation in the Archives and Records Management Section (ARMS) facilities in New York subject to public access regulations.

Public access to records is defined in United Nations Administrative Instruction ST/AI/326 "The United Nations Archives". Section 4 (b) states that members of the public may have access to:

  • archives and records that were accessible at the time of their creation
  • those which are more than 20 years old and not subject to restrictions imposed by the Secretary-General
  • those which are less than 20 years old and not subject to restrictions imposed by the Secretary-General, on condition that the originating office has given written consent for access. See UN Records - Access and Declassification Requests
