World Environment Day - June 5

World Environment Day was established on June 5, 1972 by the UN General Assembly to mark the opening of the United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm, Sweden. The Conference’s goal was to produce an international political consensus on ways of preserving and improving the environment. Secretary-General Waldheim marked the first World Environment Day in 1973 with a message that still resonates to this day. The celebration of this day has become a global event and a platform for public outreach that is widely celebrated all over the world. This year’s theme, “Connecting People to Nature”, encourages you to get outdoors, get involved and make memories. Find a registered event near you.
