Archives des services du Secrétariat

Les archives de chaque département du Secrétariat des Nations Unies sont organisées dans une collection distincte, ou « fonds ». En plus de ces collections départementales, il existe également des documents de l'ancien Registre central des Nations Unies:

  • Fichiers d'enregistrement : le premier registre d'archives a été mis en place pendant la période londonienne de la Commission préparatoire des Nations Unies (entre le 21 novembre 1945 et le 31 janvier 1946) et calqué sur celui du ministère britannique des Affaires étrangères. Le système a été abandonné en 1979, cependant, le fonds comprend des documents remontant jusqu'en 1983. Le système de registre a été remplacé par une tenue de documents décentralisée par les départements en consultation avec le programme de gestion des documents de la Section des archives.
  • Archives départementales : classées selon l'organisation départementale du Secrétariat (de 1946 à aujourd'hui) et comprennent les archives : du Cabinet du Secrétaire général, du Bureau des affaires juridiques, du Département des affaires économiques et sociales, du Bureau des Information publique, le Département de tutelle et des territoires non autonomes, le Département des affaires politiques et du Conseil de sécurité, et bien d'autres.
